Trend spotting

The aim of this project was to identify and develop a product or service linked to a trend.

The trend that I identified* was that teenagers and young people are being exposed to sexual images, including misrepresented body image and sexual expectations, with increasing pressures from social media and online image sharing services.

To address these alarming trends a sub-brand of ‘Brook’, called ‘Nookie’ was proposed.

“The reality is that societal stigma limits young people’s ability to take control of their sexual health, enjoy healthy relationships and explore their identities. We are committed to changing attitudes, challenging prejudices and championing equality so that all young people can lead happy, healthy lives.”

* This trend was identified using what are widely considered reputable newspapers, radio shows, digital sources and television. This was supported by qualitative and quantitative research.
